Attendance Matters Daily!

Student attendance is a critical component of academic success and credit recovery at Ascend Online School. Due to the accelerated nature of our program, consistent participation and engagement are essential.

At AOS, each course is divided into four instructional terms, and students must complete 120 hours of coursework to earn credit. Because of this structured format:

• Students may only miss one day per term.
  If a student misses more than one day during any term, they will be dropped from the course and may lose the opportunity to earn credit.
   

Attendance is measured by participation in the following required activities:

• Presence during scheduled in-person instructional days at the student’s home school site.
   
• Active participation in required live virtual sessions led by AOS online instructors.
   
• Completion of assigned coursework via the Jupiter SIS platform, which tracks student progress and attendance.
   
• Participation in mandatory in-person events, such as state testing, progress monitoring, or assemblies.
   
  • Note: All students are required to attend in-person state assessments and complete virtual FAST progress monitoring based on their grade level.
     

Students are expected to log in daily to Jupiter SIS and complete assigned coursework. Attendance is tracked based on the official AOS instructional calendar, which includes both weekdays and select weekend dates.

• If a scheduled term includes a Saturday, student work completed on that day will count toward attendance.
   
• Work completed on unscheduled days (including Sundays or days outside the term calendar) is encouraged for academic progress but may not count toward official attendance.
   

Parents and Learning Coaches cannot manually enter or report attendance hours. Attendance is automatically recorded through Jupiter SIS based on logins, course activity, and teacher interaction.
