The Ascend Online School (AOS) elementary program serves students in grades 3–5 across the state of Florida who are academically off track and need additional support to close learning gaps. Students must be enrolled through their home school counselor, and most will attend AOS at their home school site, where they receive a blend of in-person and online instruction.
AOS is a tuition-free public program. We provide Florida-certified teachers, access to a high-quality online curriculum, and essential instructional materials at no cost.
Families are responsible for providing basic consumable supplies such as printer paper, ink, notebooks, and writing tools.
AOS does not provide loaner computers, so families must ensure their student has access to a working computer and reliable high-speed internet to complete the at-home portion of their coursework.
Parents or guardians of elementary students serve as Learning Coaches, helping bridge the connection between the school-based instruction and at-home learning. While students receive face-to-face instruction during the school day, they will also complete a portion of their coursework at home in the online platform.
In grades 3–5, Learning Coaches should expect to be actively involved for approximately 30–40% of the student’s total learning time, primarily during at-home hours. Responsibilities may include supporting login and navigation, helping with assignments, ensuring task completion, and maintaining communication with the student’s teachers.
A structured routine and consistent support are key to your child’s success—and AOS is committed to working alongside you to help your student thrive.
The Ascend Online School (AOS) middle school program serves students in grades 6–8 who reside in the state of Florida. This program is designed specifically for students who are off track academically and need to recover previously failed core courses in math, science, social studies, English/language arts, or reading.
Students must be referred by their home school counselor, and most will attend AOS at their home school site, where they receive a mix of face-to-face instruction and online coursework through our hybrid model.

In middle school, students are beginning to take more responsibility for their learning—but parent and guardian involvement remains essential to ensuring student success.
As a parent or designated Learning Coach, you will help your student stay on track with their assignments, monitor progress, and communicate regularly with the teaching team. Your support will be especially important during at-home learning time, where students complete the online portion of their coursework.
All middle school students must complete 120 hours of coursework per recovery course, which is structured into four instructional terms. Staying engaged and maintaining a consistent schedule is key to ensuring your student completes all terms and earns the necessary credit.
On average, parents can expect to be involved for 15–20 hours per week, with approximately 50–60% of that time online, depending on the student’s individual needs and level of independence.
The Ascend Online School (AOS) high school program serves students in grades 9–12 who reside in the state of Florida and are in need of credit recovery. Students must have previously taken and failed a course in order to be eligible for enrollment. All students are referred by their home school counselor, and most will complete AOS coursework while remaining at their home school site with a combination of face-to-face and online instruction.

High school students at AOS follow a structured, term-based schedule. Each recovery course consists of 120 total hours, divided into four instructional terms. Students are expected to actively participate in both face-to-face sessions with their assigned on-site teacher and online instruction with their certified AOS teacher.
While students have some flexibility in when they complete online lessons, they are also required to attend scheduled live sessions based on academic progress and individual needs. These sessions may include direct instruction, small group support, or one-on-one guidance. Students are also encouraged to reach out to teachers for help at any time.
Although high school students are expected to work more independently, parental support and accountability remain important. Parents/Learning Coaches are encouraged to stay informed about their child’s progress and maintain open communication with AOS teachers throughout the course.
